Terms of Service
Last updated: March 1, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using HomeSkoolHelper ("the Service"), operated by HomeSkoolHelper LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using the Service, you represent that you are a legal adult and have the authority to enter into this agreement.
2. Description of Service
HomeSkoolHelper is a web-based platform that helps homeschool families manage attendance, grades, transcripts, portfolios, state compliance tracking, and related educational record-keeping. The Service may include AI-powered features such as grading assistance and curriculum recommendations.
The Service is a tool to assist with educational organization and record-keeping. It does not provide legal, educational, or professional advice. You are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with your state's homeschool laws and requirements.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.
Each account is intended for use by a single family. You may not share your account credentials with individuals outside your household or allow others to access your account on behalf of a different family.
4. Subscription and Billing
HomeSkoolHelper offers a 14-day free trial. After the trial period, continued use requires a paid subscription at the then-current rate (currently $4.99/month including your first child, plus $2.50 per additional child with no extra charge after 5 children. Co-op and group plans are available at $3.99 per student per month for groups of 20 or more).
Subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly basis. You may cancel at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes will not apply until your next billing cycle after the notice period.
5. Your Data and Content
You retain full ownership of all data, records, documents, and content you create or upload to the Service ("Your Content"). We do not claim any ownership rights over Your Content.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete Your Content or close your account.
You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important records. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, we are not a substitute for your own record-keeping practices.
6. AI-Powered Features
Certain features of the Service use artificial intelligence, including grading assistance, curriculum recommendations, and compliance analysis. These features are provided as tools to assist you and are not a substitute for your own judgment.
AI grading suggestions are recommendations only. You are always responsible for reviewing, adjusting, and confirming any grades or assessments before they are finalized. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated feedback or scores.
Compliance information provided by the Service, including state law summaries and requirement checklists, is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Laws change frequently, and while we make reasonable efforts to keep information current, you should verify requirements with your state's education authority.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Upload content that is harmful, abusive, or violates the rights of others
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
- Use automated means to access the Service without our written permission
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
8. Availability and Support
We strive to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
We provide support via email and in-app channels. Response times may vary and are not guaranteed.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon account closure, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before termination except in cases of severe violations.
We recommend exporting your data before closing your account. The Service provides export functionality for transcripts, report cards, attendance records, and portfolio items.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HomeSkoolHelper LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of records, or inability to meet educational compliance requirements.
Our total liability for any claims arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HomeSkoolHelper LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in Texas.
