What Florida requires

Notification / Filing

File a one-time notice of intent with the county superintendent within 30 days of beginning to homeschool.

Standardized Testing

Annual evaluation required. Options: FL certified teacher evaluation, nationally normed standardized test, state assessment, psychologist evaluation, or another mutually agreed tool.

Portfolio / Records

Maintain a portfolio including a log of educational activities and work samples. Records kept for 2 years and available for inspection upon 15 days notice.

Withdrawing from Public School

File a notice of intent to homeschool with the county superintendent.

Additional Notes

Florida requires notification, a portfolio, and annual evaluation but does not mandate specific subjects or teacher qualifications. Compulsory ages are 6-16. Homeschool students may participate in public school extracurricular activities. An umbrella school option also available.
